Jaane Kaha Gaye Woh Din.......

I still remember the good old childhood days. Everything was so simple and easy. No complexity in life. Actually there was no feeling of life, only fun fun and fun. There were some good things which i loved very much. TV programs do count in them. At that time we had only Doordarshan. We had a 21 inch color tv with a remote (Having a remote was a great luxury at that time) .

In the night came various tv serials. My favourite was Byomkesh Bakshi(Indian version of sherlock holmes). Rajat Kapoor played the title character. And i bet its the best detective tv series ever aired on indian tv screen. No other serial can ever match it. The stories, plots were really interesting. The background music, acting everything was par excellence. From then this serial was repeal telecasted many a times, and i never missed it. I felt the same excitement, thrill everytime i watched it.
One other thriller serial Tehkikat too came. Its main character was Sam D’Silva, and his assistant Gopi, played by the talented Saurabh Shukla I never ever missed IT . I watched Rangoli and even today I watch IT . I think IT is the oldest serial still surviving. At 10 came that show which i loved most. The Jungle Book. Though i called it Mowgli. I liked bagheera ,bhaalu, azgar etc.and who can forget Surabhi hosted by siddharth kak and renuka sahane...great GK show.there was a show called Chitrahaar that would come on wednesdays. After some years another tv showed rocked. It was Neerja Guleri’s Chandrakanta. It was the most expensive tv show at that time, and it was really a superhit. I remember that during it telecast time i.e. On sundays 9-10 am , the roads were deserted for complete one hour. People only came out after 10. Or before only if there was powerbut cursing the electric department. If someone missed any episode of chandrakanta he considered himself as a sinner. and then came shakti maan we used to bunk saturday school just to watch IT. Then started the cable tv era ... zee tv was synonym for cable tv... Ek minute on zee tv was good.. Crystal Maze on star plus..

Alif Laila... Arabian nights...

Antakshari on zee tv .... Turning Point hosted by girish karnad... later came Suraag IT was also a good serial...

During my childhood days i used to eat the orange round toffee which costed just 5 paise. Not many toffees from that period are still available now. Mango bite and melody are some of them . Swaad, Pan Pasand , Percy are rarely available nowadays. I used to eat the 1 rupee orange flavour icecream. There were no quality walls at that time.... Chewing gums came little late. Big babool was first one, boomer was to follow.

I now remember those good days. I dont think the children nowadays enjoy so much.I havent seen a single child playing Gilli Danda,Goli,Stop etc Nowadays children dont even know who stays in their neighborhood.. The over cautious parents dont allow them to play in mud, or make mud houses, play in heaps of sands, and make discoveries . They are just busy in watching cartoons all time or play with their expensive gaming consoles. They may be mentally better, but not physically. I just want to revert the time and go back to my childhood.
